BAFTA Film Awards 2023 winners: Full list of winners and nominees
Your complete round-up of who took home the prestigious prizes.
It was a record-breaking evening at the 2023 BAFTAs on Sunday (19th February) for All Quiet on the Western Front, which bagged seven of the 14 awards it was nominated for, including the coveted Best Film title.
The feature now has the highest number of BAFTAs for a foreign language film, overtaking the Italian coming-of-age drama Cinema Paradiso, which claimed five in 1988.
In his acceptance speech, cinematographer James Friend said the film’s message – that young people can be 'poisoned by right-wing nationalistic propaganda' and 'war is more than an adventure' – was as timely now as when the book of the same name was published in the late 1920s.
The anti-war epic was closely followed by The Banshees of Inisherin, which took home four awards, including Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress for Barry Keoghan and Kerry Condon respectively.
Elsewhere, Cate Blanchett bagged the Leading Actress trophy for Tár, Austin Butler took Leading Actor for Elvis, and Emma Mackey won the EE Rising Star Award for her leading turn in the Emily Brontë biopic Emily.
On receiving the award, which was voted for by the public, she said, "I didn't prepare anything! Thank you BAFTA, thank you EE, thank you to everyone who voted."
She added that she was "so proud to be nominated alongside" the other contenders for the award and concluded that winning was "really special".
It was also a special night for Sandy Powell, who took home the Fellowship award for her contribution to costume design.
Without further ado, read on for the full list of BAFTA 2023 winners and nominees, with the winners in bold to show their success.
